Laura Chenicek received a M.F.A. in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her final semester, she was awarded a fellowship to attend the Whitney Museum of American Art's highly prestigious independent study program in New York City.
Since moving to Nashville, TN in 2002 Chenicek has been exhibiting her artwork throughout the Southeast. These include one person shows at the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery, Nashville,TN; the Hite Gallery, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY; Sarratt Gallery, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN; Blend Studio and Snow Gallery, Nashville, TN. In addition she has exhibited at the Museum of Fine Art, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL; Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, AL; Customs House Museum, Clarksville, TN among others.
Chenicek's artwork is represented in private collections and major corporate collections including Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville,TN; Schering Plough Pharmaceutical, Madison, NJ; Johnson and Johnson World Headquarters, New Brunswick, NJ and Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX.
